Day 1 of My New Life

Wow. Life sure will be different here than in Utah!

I could talk for a solid hour or two about all the ways NNU is different than USU, but instead I’ll share with you the highlights, or the things that are REALLY different. To get rolling, let’s start off with a quick poem I just wrote.

Everything changes, quite often in life

My faith, friends, consciousness by night

Everything changes, like wind in a kite

Wind’s inexistent sometimes, and later, just right.

Everything changes, the blueberries in the box

Perfectly ripe a few days, then the next, they are not

Everything changes, the holes in my socks

Force me to buy new ones, which blesses my life quite a lot.

Everything changes, but thats the joy of the game

The love and the hurt, worldy feelings, with no gain

I’ve stored up these possessions, monetizing my life

But now I look to Christ, for the plan and relief of pain.

Today, I discovered that I can write these posts on my laptop! Takes half the time, and arguably much better results. Editing is much smoother, and efficient. In 2026, I would like to be better at writing these more often.

One of the weirdest things for me about being at NNU is the teachers. Having my teachers open up class with a prayer and/or devotional is pretty odd to me. Don’t get me wrong, it’s super cool! Just different than what I’m used to. To add onto that, it is really interesting to be taught from a Christian perspective/views. It makes it much easier for me, a Son of God, to view what I’m learning as something that can really be a calling from God, and serve others in the world.

My roommate is a cool guy. Seems to have a good grasp of what he believes, and I can have advantageous and knowledgeable discussions with him accross a variety of topics (sports, faith, college-life, etc.). His father is a Lutheran pastor, which is interesting.

That’s really all I’ve got for now. My class schedule is rough. 8 AM classes every day! On tuesdays (today), I have classes nearly all day. Hopefully I can find time for homework!
