One of my favorite parts about being a college athlete so far had been the Powerade. We oftentimes will get unlimited Powerade after runs (and chocolate milk), which is incredibly convenient and helpful. Nothing like downing multiple glasses of sugary goodness after running in the heat, and a long day of classes and boredom. The person who makes the Powerade will sometimes even combine different kinds and try to make unique and flavorful combos. Some of them are incredible, but none are worse than mid.
I woke up this morning, hit up the fueling station for a goated oatmeal bar and cereal breakfast, followed by a smoothie I made at home. I then hit up my English class, went to athlete study hall for a half hour, then went to the fueling station again for a chicken bowl lunch, and some various snacks. I headed over to my accounting class after this which ended at 2:45, then zoomed on my scooter back to the stadium / locker room for practice at 3.
That scooter is my pride and joy right now, let me tell you. On my weakest days it gets me to class with time to spare, and does so with style.
Practice was pretty mid. I felt like crap going into the run, but today was just an easy 8. Practice is 6:30 tomorrow morning, but I imagine the workout will be nothing easy. I’m excited to see what it is though, and grateful for the opportunity to train with a bunch of absolute studs and horses.
I learned I am racing at BYU on Friday which will be a lot of fun, and a great experience! I’m hoping to really demonstrate my ability to my coaches, and execute the race plan and just have fun! We are leaving on Thursday, which will be a good time.
I took an ice bath with the boys post run, which was the first time I’ve gotten up to my waist in that water, then hit up costa vida with them, which was amazing. I am becoming a Horchata-consuming menace. More on my horchata love to come… I went to connections class, then hit up Jamba for a smoothie, and back home, to do a tiny bit of homework.
Overall, it was a good day. Not as productive as it should’ve been, but I’m making the promise to myself to get some serious work done tomorrow. I’m grateful for my schedule, and even though school stresses me out, FCA reminded me that God has given me everything I need to get through any challenge that will be thrown at me. I’m more than blessed and it can be easy to forget that.
