9/12/24 – Day 8 – Locker Room Shower

Woke up this morning after a good nights rest. However, to my astonishment, the water in our dorm didn’t work! The sinks, toilet, and shower all didn’t produce water. It made me realize how lucky all of us are to have consistent water every day. We are so blessed.

Apparently it had to do with the construction that’s going on by our dorm, but it eventually got fixed. However, before it was fixed, I rode the scooter down to the locker room, and showered and went to the bathroom there. Interesting experience for me as someone that hasn’t ever showered in a locker room.

I killed some time, then at 2 loaded up a van with some of the other guys, to head to Orem, Utah. We jogged the course, and got a good feel for it, and saw BYU guys there too. It was crazy to see absolute studs like James Corrigan (Olympian) just out jogging too. I’m super stoked to race tomorrow!

The boys decided to go to Olive Garden, which was super tasty. I got some pasta with creamy mushroom sauce with grilled chicken on it, which I knew was a safe bet. I also got some peach raspberry lemonade, which was incredibly good. The boys all shared stories about previous memories, and there were some crazy ones. We might go to Golden Corral post race tomorrow! The Olive Garden mints might be my favorite part about the restaurant.

Now I’m sitting in bed writing this. My roommate is already asleep (it’s 9:27). It’s crazy and awesome how serious everybody takes this, which is something I’m not used to but appreciate. I’m missing my family a lot today, (it hasn’t even been a month) but I’m excited to see them soon. I miss my dog a lot too. Tomorrow will be a fun day full of great memories and amazing opportunities!
