True blue collar day on the cross country course.
Woke up, got breakfast, and loaded the bus to SLC at 9:30. We got to Sugarhouse Park at 11:00ish, and all was well. It was slightly chilly, but it seemed to be a good day. The hay was in the barn, and me and the boys were ready for ANYTHING. Or, at least we thought we were.
We prepped for the race with a 2 mile jog, some form drills, strides, and all the usual occurrences. We got to the line, ready to go, confidence flowing (I didn’t feel good, but I gaslighted myself into believing I did). I prayed for the team, and a bit later the gun went off. We were about 160m into the race, and fans were waving for us to stop! Apparently, the timing had an issue, so we had a false start.
Anyways, we went back out the second time, and the boys had another great start. We were all together (the 4 of us), and we looked good. One of my teammates took the lead almost instantly. We raced against a known speedster by the name of Jaquavius who would clearly win, so this was a confusing move for sure. Me and the other 2 just kept grinding anyways though.
At about 2 miles, I started to drop. I don’t know what was happening! We didn’t start fast, or anything crazy, but my body just turned against me. I ended up having a very bad race, and finished 27th. Bummer.
That being said, I’m looking forward to the future, and grateful for the opportunity and experience that I will grow from. It’s been a challenging and fun season.
The team got Chick-fil-A after, and my salad was absolutely fire. After the bus ride, I hopped in the recovery boots, cleaned up, etc.
I have a date tomorrow night! More in tomorrow’s blog.
Anyways, after I got home, I rested for a bit, went and got Costa Vida and Jamba with a bunch of my friends, then went to bed for the night.
