1/17/24 – Day 64 – Yippecayay?

Woke up this morning at 6:30, because we had a USU athlete breakfast. The USU president gave us a speech, and we ate, and went on with our days.

I was tired from waking up early, so I tried to fall back asleep after (8 ish), but shocker, I was unable to do so. So I lied in bed, unmotivated to carry on my day due to my exhaustion, and upset with my current situation and sprained ankle.

About 45 minutes later, I hopped out of bed, and did some homework. I then iced my ankle, and headed to the training room, so Hannah could tape it up. I was planning on doing the workout today with the sprained ankle!

After that, I headed to Walmart to pick up some sleeping-aid items- such as melatonin, magnesium and tea. We will see if it can help me at all, I’ll keep you posted.

After this, I killed some time before practice, and headed down. It was cold, and very windy, but we had a workout today. My ankle felt rough on the warmup, but less bad on the tempo. Towards the end the pain increased a little, but I hung on until mile 4 of the tempo, and that’s when I was pulled, so everything worked out, and I felt better than expected. I then got a ride with one of the team managers back to USU from the tempo loop and finished on the elliptical. We then had a lift- it was pretty pleasant, and I enjoyed it.

I then spent some time in the training room working on recovering. Hannah hooked me up to this electric stimulation machine while I was icing my ankle. Pretty crazy, it’s weird to have your body move without you making it, but it felt like TV staticky! Technology is crazy.

After this, I got some Costa Vida, and headed back to the dorms for a dorm wide karaoke night. It was about what you’d expect.

Speaking of which, I made it into Aggiepella! My audition was accepted! Pretty neat, we will see how that unfolds, it could be a weird disaster, or a fun way to keep music as a part of my life.

After karaoke night, I drunk a cup of warm tea (Cinnamon Horchata Destress and Sleep) or something. This is the point where I’m writing this, and I’m actually feeling pretty tired, so we will see what happens.

I’m just chilling in the girls dorm with Ethan, and Cailey and Jane are making cookies, so it smells amazing. The other freshman are just coming back from the meet, so we are kinda just waiting for them.

Today was a good day- a step in the right direction. I need to keep being disciplined about recovering, pounding water, and sleeping well. I’m grateful for where I’m at right now, and feeling very blessed.

Tomorrow my brother has a race! I’m excited to see how he does, I think he is due for a fiery race, and I’ll bet he has a good one tomorrow. My sisters basketball team has had a lot of success lately, and they were on a win streak for a while! She is getting a lot better, I’m proud to see her growing in the sport and as a person.
