With each new step, my legs burn, as I lunge the scooter forward up the steep, rough hill. Trying to rearrange your footing, you step off the metal push scooter, only for the base to spin around and whack you in the shin.
This was the story of my life yesterday as I attempted to travel using the push scooter. I think I’m just too groomed to the simplicity and perfection the electric scooter gave me last year- it was so much more convenient. I worked last night and this morning to try and fix it- but have been unsuccessful. I checked the website, and spare parts I would consider buying and replacing were out of stock. Through lots of thought, I decided to purchase a new electric scooter and return the push scooter, so that’s what I did. Garrett and I found a deal, purchased new scooters (his broke about a week and a half ago as well), and I went to Walmart and returned the push scooter. It was a funny but feeble attempt.
Today’s Friday, which means there are no classes in the business schools! They do this to help students out, but also because they oftentimes have networking events on Fridays. To use this time wisely, I scheduled a meeting with a financial career advisor. She helped inform me of various events happening this semester. One of those events is a career expo day, where a bunch of different firms all pull up, and you basically go around elevator pitching yourself, talking about why you are fit for a job/internship. It’s more complicated than that though, and I have to do research on brands before I show up to that event later this month. I set up a call with the student president of the financial planning club, and talked to him about events as well!
To get ready for some of those big/important events, I went and got my suit dropped off at a dry cleaner today. I just realized I hadn’t ever cleaned it before and figured it would be nice and simple. Beforehand, I looked up the rate, and it was 11.50, so I figured it was worth it.
So yeah, that’s the update of the day. I need to start workshopping my resume (there are all kinds of business school videos, tips, templates, etc.) to get ready for some of those big networking events because I have to have an internship this summer. The finance career advisor recommended I get two internships before I graduate, but that will be very difficult since I’m graduating a year early.
Tonight I’m gonna cook some chicken fajitas, and make some GF lemon bars for a desert (sounds fancy, but just from a box lol).
I’m excited to race again, my brother Ian raced today and his team did pretty well!
Lots of love,
Luke
